Montefiore

Route

Starting from Riccione, we cycle along the seafront as far as the dirt roads south of the Conca river, before climbing up to Montegridolfo, in the shadow of the town’s Malatesta Castle. After reaching the picturesque village of Tavoleto, we continue up and down dirt roads through woods and countryside to the tiny village of Piandicastello. At this point, we cycle down, before climbing up again to Montefiore Conca, the mediaeval capital of the Conca Valley, dominated by its imposing Malatesta Fortress. This is the perfect place to take a short break and enjoy the views of the Apennines and the hills sloping down to the Romagna coast. Continuing on, the road takes us back down towards Morciano di Romagna, alongside the Conca river and then up through fields and vineyards to the ancient village of San Clemente. From here we return to the coast along the dirt roads which cross the Romagna foothills.
