While in France, the Tour will be about to crown the king of its 97th edition, in near Belgium the professional cycling circuit will race the Tour of Wallonie, scheduled from 24th to 28th July in five stages.
Constituted in 1974, this important competition that has assumed the actual denomination only four years ago became in 2005 part of Pro Tour’s elite calendar. Organized in the homonym Wallonie region, the Belgian classical race will start on Saturday 24 July from Roubaix which usually held the finish of important homonym pavé classic, with a first stage that will take finish in Lessines, town of the former world champion in Barcelona ’84, Claude Criquielion. In the following days, the race will cross the towns of Braine-Le-Comte, Saintes, Andenne, Hotton, Vielsalm, Villers-Le-Bouillet and Chaufontaine, till the final finish in Lontzen, on Wednsday 28th July. A lot of important teams just confirmed their presence, as Sky, Katusha, Pharma-Lotto and Bmc team of world champion Evans.
So, while in Paris will be crowned the winner of the Tour, in Belgium will going to win the Prince of Wallonie. In 2009’s edition, it was the french rider Julien El Fares.
