From many years, the Spain's Vuelta represents one of the most important stage-races of international cycling calendar, like Giro and Tour. Same time - three weeks - and same prestige, always more appreciated both by riders and teams.
From a few years, besides, world championships moved to October subsequently made it more important. Who takes part in Vuelta gets in fact "something more in his legs in the next world championships.
2008's edition of Vuelta, that number 63, will take place from 30th August to 21st of September.
Like Paris celebrates the final yellow jersey of Tour de France, the winner of Vuelta will be "crowned" in Madrid.
The start instead will be on Saturday 30th of August from Granada, at the bottom of Sierra Nevada.
From the city also famous for its Alhambra, the race will go "up" through the beautiful town of Cordoba and central region with Ciudad Real in the lands of Don Chisciotte up to Toledo.
Then, a long transfer toward the Pyrenees, where from Andorra it will continue through Countries Basque, Cantabria, Castilla y Leon and Galicia toward the final finish in Madrid.

They will be 3.169 kilometres, alternated by two rest-days at the end of the first two weeks.
The run will be composed by 10 level stages, 8 mountain-stages, 1 team-time trial, 1 level time trial and 1 climb-time trial.
Four the new mountains to climb: San Vicente of Barquera, Cudillero, La Granja of San Ildefonso and San Sebastián de los Reyes.
If in the Giro on wears the pink jersey and in the Tour the yellow one, here they race for the Amarillo jersey.
In 2007 won it Russian David Menchov, just winner also in 2005 and this year fourth in Tour de France.
