 2011 july 2 - 24To its 98th edition, in 2011 the Tour de France will take place from Saturday 2nd to Sunday 24th July, along 3.471 kilometers distributed in 21 stages and three weeks of competition. It will be a rather binding Tour, among the more difficulties of the last years, with 6 stages of mountain of which 4 with arrivals on the top, 3 stages mix and 2 time trials, one individual and one for teams. Also the sprinters however they will have a lot of possibilities to win to compete themselves in the 10 plan stages. Among the principal characteristics of the next Grande Boucle there are the absence of time benefits on the finishes and the insertion of 15 new towns among the stages' centres. As every year, the riders will have to climb the mythical mountains that made the history of the Tour. First the Pyrenees, with the stages of Pau, Lourdes, Luz Ardiden, Saint Gaudens and Plateau de Beille, then the Alps with Gap, the Alpe d'Huez, the mythical Col du Galibier to climb twice and the trespass on the Italian Alps to Pinerolo The Tour de France 2011 also celebrate the centennial by the first passage on the Galibier, climbed for the first time by the Tour de France 1911. From 2nd to 24th July 2011, follow the Tour de France with the Riccione Bike Hotels in the long journey of the next Grande Boucle from Vandee to the Champs-Élysées in Paris. |
