Among the great favourites of the eve - Alejandro Valverde, Cadel Evans, Franck Schleck and David Menchov - 95th Tour de France crowned his winner Carlos Sastre.
The Spanish of CSC team has conquered the yellow jersey on the last stage podium that took end, like tradition, on the Champs Elysés circuit in Paris.
On Sunday 27th July, after three weeks of race and a lot of mountain-stages on Pyrenees and Alps, he preceded of 58 seconds Australian Cadel Evans.

On the final podium, also Austrian Bernhard Bohl (to 1'13") before Russian Menchov and American Vandevelde, first pink jersey in 2008's Giro. It has also been, once again, the Tour of "great excluded": who for simple absence like last winner Alberto Contader not approved with his team Astana; who for adversity, like the attended Damiano Cunego who gets back home battered for a fall, and who for hazard, like Italian Riccardo Riccò and his team-mate Leonardo Piepoli (winners of three stages), stopped by antidoping controls.
Together with Sastre, wearing the yellow jersey one year later the other Spanish Contador, also celebrated in Paris German Gert Steegmans, winner of the last stage on the last stage.
