April 13
The cycle race Rund um Köln is a classic one day race in Germany.
Founded in 1908, it is the second oldest race in Germany, after the classic road race of the Rund um Hainleite.
The list of winners is dotted with Germans cyclists with the exception of the Twenties, when Alfredo Binna, five times winner of the Giro d'Italia, won the Rund um Köln. Even the nineties have seen more foreigners winners than Germans.
For a longtime, it has been only a amateurs race, but since 2005 it is part of Uci European Tour and today is one of the races of the Tui-Cup, the German Cycling Championship.
The centennial edition in 2008, was canceled due to snow.
This year the date was postponed of 3 weeks, to escape the last cold winter days.
