 May 23This year is the fortieth anniversary of the Gran Fondo Nove Colli! 12,000 cyclists from all over Italy are ready for the Nove Colli 2010, departing from Cesenatico on 23 May. The largest and most famous Italian amateur long distance cycling race, this year celebrates 40 years of challenges and successes: a challenging competition, an appointment for cyclists, amateur and for those who want to discover the beauties of Romagna . Founded in 1970 from an idea of eight cyclists of the "Fausto Coppi" foundation in Cesenatico, it started with 17 participants at the first departure and today counts 12,000 athlets, a thousand more than the limit, to celebrate the age of 40. For 2010, the Nove Colli provides two types of routes, one 200 km long, for the more experienced, and the 130 km route for amateurs, different in number of slopes and curves. Since 2001 also runs the Off-Road edition, a competition for mountain bike amateurs. In addition, it also runs the Nove Colli Running, which sees athletes compete on the same route of bikers, engaged in a Gran Fondo by feet along the 200 km route (with maximum arrival time of 30 hours). It take place also the enogastronomic event "Radici del Gusto", a tour of gourmet products doc, PGI, PDO to discover the flavors of Romagna. Like every year for this exciting challenge, a lot of cyclists and athletes from all over the world arrive in the Riviera of Romanga and the tourist structures are ready to welcome them with so many offers and services.
