The success of this sport event born and grown in Gaiole in Chianti, in the province in Siena, it seems not to have limits. The famous "Heroic" or "Strade bianche", became in a few time a mythical race.Conceived some years ago for the cycle-tourists, since 2007 it has also conquered the maximum world cycling, and here is already a new edition for professionals, scheduled on March 5th 2011. The charm of this race is unique in the world indeed. On the hills of the province of Siena, the "Heroic" allows to live once more the myth of the real heroic cycling, from the first pioneers of the bike to the age of the great champions like Fausto Coppi. The principal characteristic of the Heroic is the run on roads without asphalt, on which the riders are really involved in a challenge of old times. The success and the charm of this event are so big to make the RCS Sport’s organizers to insert a “small Heroic” also in the final of a stage in the last Italian Giro. Since 2010, it also takes place a female edition. Meanwhile, the meeting is for 5th March 2011 with a new Montepaschi Strade Bianche for professionals, to follow together with the Riccione Bike Hotels! |
