 25-29 MarchCycling International Week. We all are waiting for it in trepidation the International Week of Coppi and Bartali. Athletes perhaps more than the public, but we could not swear it. Because the involvement it has been able to raise over the years is really great. Among the most beautiful cycling events of the region, the Granfondo Coppi Bartali occupies a privileged place in fans hearts. Maybe for the very fact that it is dedicated to two legends of cycling, two icons of Italian sport history. Maybe for the fact that it is run in a land that has always nourished a warm passion for the two wheels. Maybe for the efficiency with which the Group Sports Emilia always strives to organize it. Maybe yet because it crosses countries rich in history and landscapes rich in a natural and still intact beauty. Or because in 2003 we saw a smiling again Marco Pantani climbing on the second step of the platform, for what will be his last victory. Or finally for the emotional involvement that, in that unforgettable departure racing in 2004 in the promenade of Riccione, has joined in the sky a flight of 145 white doves, to remember the number of breast that was withdrawing and that the year before belonged to the tragically disappeared champion. A mix of ingredients ensuring its success, the International Week of Coppi and Bartali, from March 25 to 29, will come back on the roads of Emilia Romagna. The path of the five-day race will be officially presented on March 17 at the Grand Hotel Des Bains in Riccione, but the participation of athletes of the highest order is already expected. "Five days in the history of cycling” writes G. S. Emilia, to return to those values, such as solidarity and the desire to win relying only on their own resources, which were so important for a Country that was returning to life. So, in a time when we are called again, and perhaps in a crucial way, to choose the fate of the nation, it would be nice if athletes would give the public a recovered example of sportsmanship. Who knows that with Coppi Bartali the magic of that mysterious passage of bottle between colleagues-rivals really can not renew… Gare Ciclistiche
