Dear Ceaser before we begin I would like to thank you for your cooperation. What do you think of Riccione Bike Hotels?
It has been a very good initiative and every year that passes the number of cyclists auments. The organization is very good and with this its possible for us to content the clients with our knowledge of the countryside.
We have noted a lot of interest for the web site Riccionebikehotels.it, the public have taken us by surprise mostly the younger people, don't you think that its a positive factor that the cyclists are interested in using internet?
Yes indeed, I have heard that many cyclists have booked using internet. Most of those who have accompanied me use internet.
The Romagna, the best place for tourists on bike holidays, the warm welcome, the routes, the fitness, the food and above all the possibility to be always aggiorned with what's going on in your world, these are the ingredients that make this place one the best for mountain bike tours, what do you think?
Talking with the cyclists I have come to the conclusion that they are very happy with the treatment that they receive in the hotels. They appreciate the warm welcome and at the end of each stay they salute saying" We will see you again next year". As well as that some of the guests have confessed that they have been in Spain they are a bit deloused because its nearly all flatlands with only a few hills: instead here at Riccione there's everything, flatlands, hills and mountains.
Apart from the results obtained up until now, do you think that sympathy and wiliness have there place in your work?
Certainly in the early years I was finishing runs of 50-60KM now we are talking about 90- 110-120KM and once a week we arrive at 160km with the run of the three Regions, Emilia Romagna, Marche e Toscana and if we want we can add a fourth Region, Umbria.
As a cyclist guide , what is your stile? Do you choose your routes with the guests, decide at the moment or do you follow a timetable? Do you like to follow your natural rhythm or do you adapt yourself to the capacity of the other tourists who want to enjoy the Romagna and its land scapes?
On the return every evening from the outing we decide together for the following day, we try to avoid the main roads where there is a lot of traffic, choosing the smaller roads we can enjoy the many land scapes of this Region, particularly in spring time when the countryside is in full blossom.
Would you like to tell us about an outing \ route ( in Romagna, ndr ) that you like particularly ( that is not one of the usual ones)?
For me the routes are all lovely each day we take a different route. They are all valid to see and follow. For me a beautiful landscape is the panoramic road that goes from Cattolica a Pesaro, with a cliff view of the sea without traffic where one can admire the countryside. A spectacle that can't be missed for someone who loves the bicycle.
In your opinion who are the cyclists that are better prepared\ trained? and also the friendliest ones?
Many of my clients are from other countries but I have to say that the cyclist is very gentile by nature. There are cyclists that travel with the head down, and there are those that like to stop for a coffee or cappuccino and have a chat.
Have you any curious stories to tell in regards to the outing with the guests of the Hotel?
One day in March a group of Americans asked me to go after the run organized that day for a run around the panoramic view. That day we went to Carpegna ( to go and come back there is about 100Km and one can arrive at a height of 700m ). Once arrived at the fountain we refilled our water tanks. I decided to do the famous cippo of Carpegna Mountain, 1400m high with slopes that pend from the 18-20%. After the climb the head of the group asked me , "
why don't we go and eat a plate of pasta in a near by restaurant"? "
Alright" I said,
"but after that lets go and do the panoramic run?" The head of the group looked at me and said
"for today I have had enough and with that we went to lunch laughing".
