This year, one of Romagna’s most exciting amateur Granfondos is celebrating its 20th birthday and will be introducing a few changes. This 20th edition, which, as always, sees accompanying parties and family in tow, will open with a mega Friday night celebration in the square in front of the Palazzo del Turismo, and will continue on Saturday with many events for the participants’ families offered throughout the day.
The race will depart from Piazzale San Martino, but, unlike previous years, the finish line will be in front of the Terme di Riccione, right in the centre of town. Following the race, be sure not to miss the pasta party and the winners’ awards ceremony at the Palaterme of Riccione.
As always, the granfondo consists of two routes: a more challenging one for competitive riders and a more forgiving amateur route with lower gradients. The long route will include 2 timed sections: the Sassofeltrio leg, covering a distance of approximately 2.7 km and the Mondaino, approximately 5 km long. The short route, on the other hand, only includes the Sassofeltrio leg.
Long route of 136.2 km, with an elevation gain of 1,954 m.
Short route of 99.4 km, with an elevation gain of 1,430 m.
Participants in the Riccione Terme event will be offered a discount on spa treatments and special packages for those who wish to come back to the city. A free shuttle bus service to the Centre of Riccione will also be made available to accompanying parties and family.
