august 28 - september 19
The last one among the three most important historical races for stages of the whole world cycling calendar, the Vuelta of Spain will take place from 28th August to 19th September 2010.
During three weeks of competition, exactly like Giro and Tour that come before in the cycling season, it will crown as its winner the best rider of the moment.
Since many years scheduled in the beginning of September, the Spanish race is the last important test before the world championships. More and more important, as the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia, the Vuelta of Spain will crown its winner after 21 race very difficult days, with 8 climb stages and 6 top-mountain arrivals, for a total of 3.379 kilometres. The show of the great Spanish race will start in Andalusia, in the charming town of Seville, with a suggestive team time-trial by night. The southern of Spain will be also the main protagonist of the whole first part of Vuelta, before a long transfer that will bring riders in Catalonia, then on the Pyrenees and the Atlantic coast, before to “go down” to the central region till the last finish in Madrid on 19th September.
By the recurrence of the 75° anniversary of the Vuelta, important news for the leader Jersey, that this year will be red and not “gold colour” as until 2009.
