Torre Pedrera

If you are in Riccione for a bike holiday, Torre Pedrera is an ideal destination for a cycling tour on your bike. Only 20 kilometres far from the “Green Pearl” of Adriatic coast, it is a perfect destination for all cyclists. To reach it, in fact, you won’t have to be particularly trained, but it will be enough to quietly run along level itineraries nearby the Adriatic national road, from Riccione toward the north.

Torre Pedrera is in fact the northern locality in the territory of Rimini, from whose historical center it is only 7 kilometres far, representing so an excellent occasion to also visit the town of August emperor and Federico Fellini. In summer, it is a crowded sea-resort characterized by two kilometres of beaches, while in autumn and winter it becomes a quiet and silent maritime place. In every season, instead, the waterfront welcomes visitors with shops, pizzerias, cafe and restaurants.

Torre Pedrera takes the name from the ancient tower that here was built in 1673 by the Papal State, and from “Pedreira”, on whose shores were installed the first populations attracted by the strategic position on the Adriatic Sea.
During the centuries, in fact, its particular geographical position conferred to the city a great importance in the control of the maritime activities and it constituted a solid base against the sea-invasions by the Saracen pirates and the Turks. The first official traces of the new town appear on the 1842 Nautical Papers, when Torre Pedrera was a crucial place in the high Adriatic Sea.

Torre Pedrera waits for you to make you taste its ancient marine tradition. From your Riccione Bike Hotel, it will be a pleasant bike-walk of a few kilometres that will allow you to appreciate all beauties of our coast. Among nature, sport and good cooking!
